Lesson 1: Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
The single most important step to secure your Google account.
Why You Need 2FA
Passwords can be stolen. 2FA ensures that even if someone has your password, they can't
access your account without your second verification step (like your phone).
Setting Up 2-Step Verification
Go to your Google Account settings.
Select Security from the left navigation panel.
Under "Signing in to Google," select 2-Step Verification.
Click Get started and follow the on-screen steps.
Lesson 2: Phishing Protection
Learn to spot and avoid sophisticated email scams.
Red Flags of Phishing
Urgency: "Act now or your account will be closed!"
Mismatched URLs: Hover over links to see the real destination.
Generic Greetings: "Dear Customer" instead of your name.
Requests for Personal Info: legitimate companies rarely ask for
passwords via email.
Lesson 3: Confidential Mode
Send sensitive information securely with expiration dates.
Using Confidential Mode
When composing an email, click the lock icon with a clock (🔒) at the bottom.
Set an expiration date (1 day to 5 years).
Require a passcode (SMS or email).
Recipients cannot forward, copy, print, or download the email content.
Lesson 4: Data Backup & Recovery
Ensure you never lose your important emails.
Using Google Takeout
Google Takeout allows you to export a copy of your content in your Google Account to back
it up or use it with a service outside of Google.
Go to takeout.google.com.
Deselect all, then scroll down and select Mail.
Choose your file type and frequency (e.g., one-time export).
Click Create export. You will receive a download link via email.
